A TV art competition series that featured Sarnia artist Ian McLean is set to run on CBC beginning Oct. 9.
McLean, a painter and teacher in Bright’s Grove, was one of the artists who appeared in the second episode of the series that eventually selected Neslon Cheng as the winner.
The series first aired earlier this year on the specialty channel, Makeful TV.
A high school art teacher for more than three decades, McLean has paintings in several collections and has exhibited work in galleries around the country. He is also the recipient of several Ontario Arts Council grants.
Former CBC radio personality Sook-Yin Lee hosted the show where 18 professional and amateur artists, along with wild card hopefuls, competed for the title, $10,000 and the chance to have their work displayed at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection Gallery.
Each episode took a group of artists to a different location and gave them four hours to create a landscape piece.
McLean’s episode is set in the Lake Ontario community of Cobourg.
The series airs On CBC at 9pm and will also be available on the streaming service, CBC Gem.
